Improving Children's Health

Through the C.L.C. Kramer Foundation, Louis, Clara, and Catherine Kramer support National Jewish Health in its critical mission to lessen the suffering of sick children around the world. By funding a scientist in pediatric medicine, the Kramer family supports essential work in molecular and cellular biology and promotes continued breakthroughs in childhood diseases.

Donna Bratton, MD, is a Professor of Pediatrics at National Jewish Health and the University of Colorado Denver, and is the Catherine Kramer Scientist in Pediatric Medicine.  She completed medical school and a pediatric residency at Vanderbilt University and went on to complete a fellowship in allergy/immunology at National Jewish Health where she joined the faculty in 1987.  She was Medical Director for the Children's Unit for Severe Asthma at National Jewish Health from 1994 to 1997. 

Dr. Bratton has an active laboratory investigating membrane remodeling and mediator production and release of inflammatory cells, markers of inflammation in asthma and inflammatory cell apoptosis (programmed cell death).  She is also active in many clinical investigations of childhood asthma and asthma therapy.  Dr. Bratton holds several National Institutes of Health grants and is board-certified in Pediatrics, and Allergy and Immunology.  Dr. Bratton serves as the Catherine Kramer Scientist in Pediatric Medicine.
