Idaho Tobacco Quitline
National Jewish Health is the contracted agent with Idaho Department of Health and Welfare for the operation of the Idaho Tobacco Quitline. Operations for the statewide program began in February 2005. Prior to the contract with the IDHW, National Jewish Health worked on a Pilot Program with Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health, Inc. under a 6-month contract to provide services to the pregnant and diabetic populations in Idaho. Under the statewide contract, National Jewish Health has responsibility for all activities associated with the call center, including receiving and processing all intake calls; a FAX referral system with healthcare providers, performing a series of five cessation counseling calls within six weeks of the intake call; developing customized educational material in support of the needs for Idaho residents seeking to quit tobacco use, including pregnant callers, teens, chew/spit tobacco users and Native Americans; program evaluation and outcomes reporting; and, participation in marketing planning and related activities to promote the program.
