Mediversal to Offer Disease Management Programs from National Jewish

Mediversal, Inc., has agreed to offer National Jewish Medical and Research Center disease management programs for asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) to its client companies. Mediversal is an administrative services only company that helps self-insured employers deliver cost-effective health plans to its employees.

"The National Jewish programs will add an important component to our wellness package," said Karla Shoup, Provider Relations Representative at Mediversal. "Our clients find these are valuable benefits that can help them attract and keep high-quality employees."

National Jewish program relies primarily on written materials and proactive phone calls, in both Spanish and English, to help asthma and COPD patients better understand and manage their disease. Registered nurses evaluate the severity of patients' condition, their knowledge of asthma or COPD, and their ability to manage an exacerbation. Then they help patients develop detailed plans to manage their disease and encourage good self-monitoring techniques.

They also send patients a variety of educational materials. In addition, a 24/7 call center is available for incoming calls from patients who have questions or problems. National Jewish also works closely with patients' physicians in order to get patients on the best possible treatment plan.

National Jewish has been delivering respiratory disease-management services since 1995, and has enrolled more than 20,000 patients throughout the nation. Previous studies have shown that the National Jewish disease management programs can lead to significant reductions in both healthcare utilization and absenteeism. National Jewish has been named the top respiratory hospital in the nation by U.S. News & World Report for six years running.

Mediversal is an Administrative Services Only (ASO) company that specializes in employee health benefit plan designs and provider networks that are creative and cost-effective. Mediversal helps self-funded and worker's compensation plans optimize health plan dollars for employee satisfaction. It also provides a variety of services to its client companies, including claims payment, HIPPA administration, COBRA administration, ERISA compliance and more.
