2015 New York AIR Society Benefit Honors Michael Lehrman, Co-Chief Executive Officer at CCRE

Event Raises More Than $322,000 for National Jewish Health, the Nation's Leading Respiratory Hospital

Nearly 260 young professionals honored Michael Lehrman from Cantor Commercial Real Estate at the 24th Annual New York AIR Society “The Sky’s The Limit” cocktail event, May 13, at 4 World Trade Center. The event raised more $322,000 for National Jewish Health, the leading respiratory hospital in the nation. Net proceeds from the event will be used to support research and patient care at the Denver-based hospital.

Lehrman is co-chief executive officer at Cantor Commercial Real Estate (CCRE), a fully integrated commercial real estate financial company with 15 offices, over 300 employees and a $34 billion servicing portfolio. 

Lehrman, who received the Irving Borenstein Memorial Award, was recognized for his talent, devotion and integrity within his industry. He joined Cantor Fitzgerald in 2009 as executive managing director and global head of real estate. Before joining Cantor Fitzgerald, he was a managing director at Credit Suisse and, with Anthony Orso, co-head of the Credit Suisse Real Estate Direct Group. Lehrman and Orso were recently ranked #1 in Mortgage Observer’s annual “50 Most Important People in Commercial Real Estate Finance.”

Stacey and Roger A. Silverstein, of Silverstein Properties, Inc., served as the benefit’s co-chairs. Roger Silverstein is also a founding member of the AIR Society, which was established by a group of young professionals from the New York area in 1991. 

The New York Air Society originally formed 24 years ago because some of the founders or their family members had been treated for asthma, allergies or immune system disorders at National Jewish Health. This common tie gave them the inspiration to assist National Jewish Health in its mission and efforts. Since its inception, more than $4 million has been raised to fund research, patient care, and clinical and educational programs at National Jewish Health.

Throughout the hospital’s history National Jewish Health has had a strong presence in the New York region. National Jewish Health logged more than 1,600 patient visits from New York state residents from 2010 to 2014 and provided over $32,300 in charity care for the state from 2012 to 2014. In addition, 22 former National Jewish Health fellows practice in New York state today.

In 2014, Mount Sinai Hospital, a top-ranked academic medical center in New York City, and National Jewish Health launched the Mount Sinai – National Jewish Health Respiratory Institute, a partnership between the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and National Jewish Health. By combining the strengths of both entities, the integrated Respiratory Institute brings together leading expertise in diagnosing and treating all forms of respiratory illness and lung disease, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, interstitial lung disease and bronchiectasis.
