National Jewish Health Respiratory Care Recognized by U.S. News & World Report

Ranked #2 in Nation in Pulmonology, 20th Year on List

National Jewish Health has been named the #2 respiratory hospital in the nation by U.S. News & World Report in its 2016-17 ranking of leading hospitals in the United States. National Jewish Health has ranked #1 or #2 in the U.S. News pulmonology rankings in all 20 years that the magazine has evaluated pulmonary care. National Jewish Health and University of Colorado Hospital have been ranked together since 2011.

“We are proud of our longstanding excellence in respiratory care,” said Michael Salem, MD, President and CEO of National Jewish Health. “The U.S. News ranking, combined with other factors, including research grants and publications, leadership positions within the national medical community and patient satisfaction surveys, convinces us that National Jewish Health is indeed the nation’s leading respiratory hospital.”

The U.S. News rankings are based on a combination of factors, including selection by pulmonologists across the nation, patient volume, safety and survival, as well as technology and patient services.

National Jewish Health was also recognized as “High Performing,” the best rating available, for care of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and for Lung Cancer Surgery in the magazine’s Common Adult Conditions and Procedures category.

National Jewish Health cares for patients at 25 locations in Colorado and New York, including a collaboration with Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver and at the Mount Sinai — National Jewish Health Respiratory Institute in New York City.
