Financial Industries Dinner Honors Barry L. Bobrow of Wells Fargo Capital Finance

March 16 Event Raises More Than $610,000 for National Jewish Health, the Leading Respiratory Hospital in the Nation

Some of the biggest players in New York’s financial industries gathered March 16, 2017, to honor Barry L. Bobrow, managing director and head of Loan Sales & Syndications for Wells Fargo Capital Finance. The Financial Industries Dinner, which was held at the New York Hilton and attended by more than 650 business leaders, raised over $610,000 for National Jewish Health, the leading respiratory hospital in the nation.

Bobrow was presented with the National Jewish Health Humanitarian Award, which recognizes individuals who have made significant civic and charitable contributions and are leaders in their communities and industries.

“I was honored to act as Barry’s dinner chair and am thrilled that the evening was as successful as it was,” said Daniel Cott, dinner chair. “The attendance for the event and money raised for National Jewish Health is a testament to Barry and our industry.” Bobrow, who continues the highly successful fundraising tradition for this dinner, has served in banking and philanthropic leadership roles for more than 25 years. He spoke about how those two areas come together at the National Jewish Health Financial Industries Dinner.

“The focus on breathing – and its link to life – is the cause that brings us together tonight, and for the past 40 years has been taken up by the asset-based lending industry during the Financial Industries Dinner,” Bobrow said. “This isn’t just a dinner. All of you should feel proud for your work in raising money for National Jewish Health, the leading respiratory hospital in the nation.”

The 2015 Honoree, Jeffrey J. McLane, of Bank of America Merrill Lynch, was inducted to the National Jewish Health Council of National Trustees at the event. The council comprises nearly 250 community and business leaders across the country who work to raise awareness and support for National Jewish Health.

Erwin W. Gelfand, MD, world-renowned pediatric allergist and immunologist at National Jewish Health, then shared the story of Jordan Burke from Yonkers, NY. At 3 months old, his body was covered in eczema. His parents had almost given up hope before finding National Jewish Health for Kids. Within one week of arriving in Denver, Jordan’s skin began to heal. His family learned what allergens triggered his eczema and how to care for him when he returned home to New York.

Jordan’s story is not unique at National Jewish Health, Dr. Gelfand said. That’s in large part because National Jewish Health is committed to research and bringing the latest discoveries directly to the patient.

Cott and Dinner Treasurer Dorothy Killeen, both of Wells Fargo Capital Finance, led the 2017 dinner. Honorary chair was Albert Spada of Santander Bank, who was recognized at this dinner in 2016. You can view the entire dinner committee list at newyorkfinancialindustriesdinner.org.
