Clean Air Campaign: Lung Power and Air Pollution

Description: Students will learn about the respiratory system and the impact air pollution has on the human body. Students will determine the air quality for their area by analyzing data from monitoring stations. Students will learn about the impact of air pollution by doing vital capacity on good air days and bad air days and develop strategies to protect their respiratory system.

Likes: Yes, it is a great lesson between different body systems in 7th grade. The lesson is a great hands-on learning activity.
Dislikes: The specifics and explanation of the 6 stations was missing and/or confusing.

Missing Elements: During step 2, the lesson mentioned 6 stations, but had no description of student involvement or learning at the stations. I didn’t read what students would be doing.
Additional Comments: I appreciate the available resources listed for both the teacher and students. The real world importance and application is vital and well observed. The interconnectedness of the lesson is clearly seen and valued throughout.
