Outstanding Volunteer
Donald M. Gilner, MD, National Jewish Allergy Fellow, 1967-1969, and retired U.S. Air Force Colonel, along with his wife Celia Gilner, R.N. were recently recognized in the Sentinel Newspaper in Fort McPherson, Georgia, as outstanding volunteers at the Lawrence Joel Army Health Clinic where they provide extensive support for allergy patients. In April 2004, they both received the Fort McPherson Commander's Award for their outstanding community service to the Lawrence Joel Army Health Clinic. This is the second year in a row Dr. Gilner has been honored with the Fort McPherson Commander's Award.
Dr. Gilner and his wife are retired from private practice and are active volunteers for the America Red Cross and Volunteer Corps. They have made four trips to Honduras as part of an Outreach Christian Missionary Organization to help coordinate medical care for an orphan who required extensive medical care.
